The UNICEF full form stands for United Nations Children’s Fund.

The full form of UNICEF in English is the United Nations International Children’s, Emergency Fund.

UNICEF is an organization. This organization found on 11 December 1946 by the United Nations General Assembly. World War II started on 1 December 1939, continued for 6 consecutive years and ended on 2 September 1945.

In this war, the economic condition of many countries of the world had deteriorated due to which poor and children could not get proper food.

This organization was established by Ludwick Rajchaman to provide food and health care to all these children. Headquarters of UNICEF are built in New York City, Geneva.

It has also been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1965 for this work of UNICEF.

UNICEF is governed by an executive board consisting of 36 members who are select for three years by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. which are non-governmental organizations that help to promote the rights of children and money.

Each region that serves UNICEF is allocated several seats on the executive board, so all regions are represented.

UNICEF is in the United States of America, operating in at least 190 countries worldwide.

Its activities are distrubute by region and include Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States, East Asia, and the Pacific, Eastern and Southern Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, South Asia, West, and Central Africa. A regional office is located within each region

UNICEF provides humanitarian assistance during crises and emergencies including saving and protecting the lives of the victims through both natural disasters such as tsunamis and man-made disasters.

History of UNICEF

UNICEF was created by the United Nations in 1946 to provide food, clothing and healthcare to children after World War II. UNICEF became a permanent part of the United Nations in 1953.

Although its name short to the United Nations Children’s Fund at that time, it is still called UNICEF.

UNICEF expanded the scope of its activities in the 1960s, including advocating for and including the rights of education, health care and nutrition to children.

It also awards the Nobel Peace Prize in 1965 for the work of UNICEF. UNICEF has expanded its scope in the struggle of women, especially mothers, in developing countries.

The UNICEF started its Woman in Development program in 1980. UNICEF started a new children’s health program in 1982 with a focus on development, oral rehydration therapy, breastfeeding advocacy and vaccination. In 1989, the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child which UNICEF uses as guidance for its programs.
